USAID was the first target of the Trump-Musk regime. It represents a tiny part of the Federal Budget. But they went after it because they think in encourages WOKE thinking and DEI world wide.
If you were able to visit the USAID website you could look up exactly what they do, but you can’t because Trump-Musk took down that website.
One of the things that USAID did work on was to encourage countries not to imprison and torture gay people. If that is too woke for you, well then.
US farmers are being hurt by the destruction of USAID: their crops were feeding people around the world who were desperate for food.
If you want to reform USAID, you carefully review where they are saving lives and providing education and making people love and respect the US.
But to trash every single program they run will just result in two things:
People will suffer and die, including children;
China will happily step in an provide the aid that we pulled away, but with many conditions, such as total access to minerals, oil, etc.
It has been said that Musk went after USAID first because it helped bring down the apartheid white rule in South Africa, his homeland.
WHAT WE CAN DO:
This is another case where people living in red states have so much power: if you folks raise holy heck with your Senators and Reps, they may become more afraid of you than of Trump and he might realize that destroying USAID was reckless and foolish.
People from farm states being hurt by the destruction of USAID can speak out loud.
